Hi,

I've looked at the forum first but I'm still confused so I hope that you will be able to enlighten me a bit.

I currently have a Windows based laptop, wirelessly connected to the internet. The router is near the entrance door, as it is where the phone line comes in. I also have a HiFi system in the living room which I am (slowly 🙂 improving. Currently has the amp and the speakers, soon to have a CD player added.

What I would like to achieve is to be able to listen to internet radio or music streamed from my laptop through my system. I know that the compression/quality is not great (music is MP3 or Wav - I don't have iTunes), but it would still be better than from the speakers of the laptop!!! I have done it until now with the laptop wired to the amp, but whilst this work for a party evening, it's not so good if I have to work with it at the same time 🙂

With that in mind, what do I need to buy? I am mostly asking here the kind of gears, but if you have brand/model please tell me and I'll research from there.

Many thanks

sounds like you need a squeezebox or a sound bridge or....

Or any other media streamer that will conect to your net work to stream music from your PC and also connect to the net and stream radio from there.

Yup, Airport Express is another option but is complicated by several factors I won't go into here - a Squeezebox is your best starting point.
