In-ear Headphones - Please Help!!!

I recieved some Ipod In-ear Headphones yesterday for £27 - the ones with the rubbery buds at the end. Now, I have never used ones like this before and I could not get them to stay in my ear regardless of the size buds used. The sound-quality was also rather poor, with the treble rather harsh and the bass weak and droning. I have used the standard ones that come with i-pods for a year now, and have had no problem with them (apart from I wanted improved sound-quality) can anybody help because I need to take them back tomorrow! Thanks for your help.

Purchase some Westones. The comfort and fitting are amazing.

www.westone.com IMO they are better than shure and Ultimate ears. The um2 is astounding.

If you are on a budget of say less than 50 pound then check out Yuin pk2 or Qjays.

I have gone through more iPod headphones than you can shake a stick at, and in terms of value versus performance the Sennheiser CX300s have been best. I too have struggled with getting in-ears in my, well, ears and they have fitted best - I had to get special fittings for my shures (before they broke).

Note that every pair I've had, of whatever make, has broken because the cable has broken internally at the plug end - wrap some gaffer tape round the cable/socket join on whatever you buy!

If you go for the CX300s, look on e-bay .That's where I bought mine at a very good price.

Seriously check out Westone Um1 or Um2.

They will blow the cx300 away in all aspects. The cx300 have a bad name on specialist headphone sites.

The Westone UMs do look like they would pack a punch; but they are a little pricey for what I'm looking for! The cx300s are a little closer to my budget! I've blown quite a few headphones though, which is the main problem. They get thrashed through my amp, get plugged into my Audigy box and then I forget to turn down the volume and then they get left in my pocket and put through the wash - £30 is the real maximum! I did have some Technics headphones from the late 80s that were really good, but all the leather covering came off them and the sound deteriorated quite rapidly last year - and obviously one wouldn't go round with them in the street plugged into the i-pod! The cx300s it is!

I've got a pair of CX300s, and they really do the job. Deep tuneful bass and clear mid-range/treble. Experiment with the ear-rubbers. I need the biggest of the three, however the wife uses the smallest with hers.

However, a word of WARNING! There are a lot of fake CX300s (and other premuim in-ears) out there on ebay. They look identical and are even in professional looking packaging, but the caveat remains that if the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

I bought mine from Amazon (though not the marketplace as I suspect there are some lookalikies there as well - make sure you get the free shipping to be sure!).

A few months back I got a pair of CX300's - from one of the Airport shops in AMS I think, circa Euro40..

They are (for the money) amazing, the bass is great, but not overpowering...with a very clear sound overall. They are also good at isolating sound - particularly useful on aeroplanes....as proven on our recent Christmas sojourn in Oz.

Based on our experiences, and we have trialled quite a few different brands/models, they can be well recommended.
