So with downloads if you lose the file there is a record of the sale and you can get it again for free, if i understand it right.

so you have a CD that no longer plays. can you send it back for a new copy?

I had a hard disc crash and lost some of my iTunes downloads. There is no way to get them back without me paying for them all over again.

And if someone breaks into your house and steals your computer, your home insurance probably won't cover re-buying them. However, it will probably cover any CDs that are stolen...
