So i'm putting my kef r700s on ebay so i can generate bucks for the atcscm40s.

Im currently looking for some cheap speakers incase the kefs get sold quick.

So guys. Any ideas? Must be under £50

Ive seen a good pair of mission 730 and 760i for sale in my area for £50 and £20.

Im a little excited to go down in sound quality over the kefs(or at least a change in sound) to listen to some small stand mounts.

My miss is going to freak when she finds out what im doing. I told her that im selling the kefs and she just said no you are not.

You know that there is no concrete response to you. 50 bucks is the price of a Menu with entry and dessert for one person in a non luxurious restaurant in my country.

No speaker of any quality will be found generally at those prices. It's more the "dumpster truck" price for little to nothing speakers. You can be lucky and found some crazy deal, but it's more related to luck. A personal visit to some thriftshop would be my advice. Try the usual underrated suspects : Kenwood, Sony, Jamo and Pioneer, their speakers are generally sacrified due to their absence of high end reputation.

Mission 780i?

Hello Vladimir. Are you speaking about his R700 he wants to sell ? Because in Germany and Switzerland they are okay to re-sell on the used market. Not for their high price, but they sell.

Yes, a Mission for 50 bucks would be okay. Just make sure they work before buying them.

I meant he should buy a pair of old Celestion 3s. I think they are very nice and I doubt he will want to sell them when he gets ATCs.

Why even bother?!

You are bound to be disappointed.

Better to up the ante a little and get something completely different which you may be able to use even after you get your new high end speakers.

Something like QAcoustic BT3 perhaps? Perfect for the bedroom afterwards. Your missus may even love them for small size and nice finish. The only problem may be that she won't allow you to buy the ATC's afterwards.

If you really can't resist cheap speakers (no idea why you'd want to go down that route considering the system you have) I'd buy some Mission M71i, MX1 or MX2. All are superbly made and measure great (some manufacturers could probably learn a thing or two) to boot.

When I sold my PMC OB1is I tried bringing my pair of Q Acoustics 2010i in from the dining room stereo and plugging into my MF (pre/power 250watts) setup - was very pleasantly suprised with how good they sounded!

A pair of 2020i on ebay at the moment for £80, could probably be bought and sold on for the same price when you come to sell

You all make valid points but its just for sound for a month or 2 while i generate the money for the atcs.

Just think the c r a per the sound is the better my review of the atcs when i get them in. Thats why i ask everyones advice on the 'better' really cheap ones available.

I really dont want to spend more than 50 though as got more important expenses right now with a very sick bullie.

Are they worth a 160km round trip? As i can get a mission 780i very close(never heard them at all but in S A Mission were posh lol)

If I had a nice car and enjoyed driving on trips, yes. If I had mediocre car and hate driving and traffic, then no.

If I was you I would be on the loom out for a pair of JPW standmounters. Not the last word in HiFi but musical and enjoyable!
