iChord or not to iChord?

Hi,

Im pretty pleased with my modest setup (detailed below) but was wondering how much difference the RCA to 3.5mm chord is making? Im using one into my creative xmod (Which is connected to my pc via USB) through to my amp? Currently im using a fairly cheap profigold cable. Will the ichord be a substantialy noticable upgrade do you think? Has anyone here done a similar upgrade?

Also..an iChord is fairly expensive at 45 quid, are there any cheaper alternatives that have close to the same performance?

I used to use this cable before my upgrade to the DacMagic. have to say the £45-£50 is well worth the premium...very good quality cable....replaced my QED J2P.

The difference was night and day, bass was more controlled, mids far more expansive and enjoyable. Sounds were more audible, you could tell a song was a juxtaposition and not just on tune.

The J2P is the closest cheaper cable available at around £20, but my advice is to pay the premium for the premium quality.

Hmmm

I thought I'd try and purchase one of these off ebay and found a good auction for a second hand, hardly used and boxed 1M version. Bearing in mind these retail on average around the 50 pound mark......

Ive just been outbid by someone who has decided they would like to pay 51.00 pounds...ebay baffles me sometimes. I once saw someone successfully win a 10 pound woolworths gift voucher for 9.50...postage was a 1 pound. I wonder about people sometimes, I really do.

Anyways I will be getting a brand new 1M ichord from here instead for 43.99 including delivery.

Hi, another option would be the qed j2p reference. It is the same price as the chord but there is a deal on at the moment that if you download a voucher you can get the reference for the price of the performance cable (about £20) I have not heard it but whifi liked it! I think thete is a link to the deal on a thread in the hot deals section. (sorry can't link to it as using my iPhone!)
