What are they all? PSU's and poweramps?

don't feed them after midnight!

Project turntable (can't remember the model but it's the one with the phono preamp built in)

The rest is all Cyrus:

CD-XTSE transport
DAC-X DAC
Pre VS2 pre-amp
Twin 8-Power power amps in mono mode
DAB-8 for the shipping forecasts
AV Master 8 surround sound processor
5 x PSX-R DC power supplies feeding the CD, DAC, pre and power amps

Interconnects are all Chord as well

ProDAC between the CD transport and the DAC (natch)
Chorus between the DAC and pre-amp and the pre-amp and the power amps
Chameleon Silver plus for the rest

Speakers are ProAc Studio 140 bi-amped with twin runs of Chord Odyssey 4 speaker cables.

A modest Mordaunt-Short 309W subwoofer adds extran neighbour annoyance.

All in my flat's 15 x 12 living room. It's no wonder the neighbours don't like me really, is it?

The rack is by Simon Little Furniture, who makes the racks badged as Cyrus, solid walnut.

Does the rack allow enough room for any heat to dissipate? You may not your heating on with all that going.

Messiah:There is plenty of room for heat to dissipate. Take a look at the bottom rack on THIS link to show you what the rack is like...

Here is a linkey to Simon Little's home page - he makes the tri-arbour and X-arbour racks sold by Cyrus, I believe. He's more expensive than the HiFi Racks Ltd. guy, but, having owned both, I think you get what you pay for.

just out of interest, how many power points/wall plugs are all these components connected to? ....

Three groups of four units wired into individually fused 10-amp rated light switches mounted 4 to a box in surface mount boxes on the back of the rack. Three mains leads then run to three of six outlets on a surge protection strip, thence to one 13-amp wall outlet. Not ideal, but neat and safe (I'm a CEng, trust me). Can't do much else in a rented flat. The subwoofer is on a separate wall outlet entirely (although probably on the same ring main). However, the day I draw (13 A x 230 V equals about) 3 kW running my hifi is the day I get evicted, and the PSX-Rs should be delivering clean DC power to the critical components (CDT, DAC, pre and power amps) anyway.

you said the 8 powers were in mono mode, did you mean bi-wired or are you using the av8 for something?

Could you tell me how much difference the PSX boxes make as I have an expensive Mains Supression system that cuts out noise inteference as well as handling power spikes and cuts. I have the 8XPd Amp and CD6Se Player.
