As some of you are already aware, I'm an idiot.

I put bids on an Arcam P38 and C31 last night on eBay that I don't think will be beaten. I had just been to a client party and got back at 2am hammered...not the best time to bid on eBay.

Furthermore, being horrified when I saw the bid confirmations earlier on my email account, I have now found out that the above components are 1cm taller than my existing ones, and therefore won't fit in my bespoke rack.

What a muppet!

PS anyone want to buy a P38/C31 combo in silver?

Joel, ive done this a couple of times and have had to open a new ebay account thanks to my late night drunken antics, you must of wanted them though? i think you can retract your bids if you contact ebay, good luck.

So, home p*ssed. Switched PC/laptop on. Went to Ebay. Typed in Arcam. Made bids. Gear won't fit the rack.

This isn't a viral post for Mastercard is it?! Pricel.....okay, sorry. Have some Nurofen.

I don't think you can. I've written to the seller explaining the situation, so hopefully he will understand and offer the items to the next highest bidder.

as we scots always say the dreaded swally has a lot to answer for,, last year i blew up a samsung blu ray player ,by placing a pint can of lager on top of it only to knock it over it thus nearly electrocuiting myself and getting a tounge wagging from the wife not agood thing at all,, hopefully i will not get to inebreated this year but then you neverknow cheers...

Hughes123:Would an A32 fit?

Yes the A32 fits

But the C31 is just an A32 with the power amp section removed and a different design pre-amp - I'm sure either Arcam have quoted the A32 wrong at 100mm or quoted the C31 wrong at 110mm...not sure about the P38 though...

Both the C31 and P38 are quoted at 110mm high and everything else 100m high.

How do you cancel an eBay bid then?

chebby:Get a new rack?

It's bespoke and would be worth nothing to sell, and made from solid oak and looks good and fits the space I have whereas other racks won't. Not really an option unfortunately.

The C31 (and the P38) are in different casework to the likes of the A32 and it's a bit taller.

I've done that in the past. I go for making myself look as pathetic as possible, or i go for funny.

Joel - could you put the power-amp under the rack and then put the pre-amp at the top and then the DVD player where the current power amp is?

did you get your rack from hifi rack ltd? is there enough of a gap to push it back to clear the front plinth and insert through the side? or take rack to bits and have front plinth cut back?

Some spike shoes for the feet (appropriate size), power amp underneath and preamp on top. Only problem would be the interconnect reach.

The gap at the bottom is only 100mm too, would just fit a second power amp. The problem with doing this is that the DVD player is 85cm tall and would then be in a slot of 100mm and I'd have an empty space so would just look silly.
