I am trying to work out a design for Home Cinema system for home based around my Sony 40W2000 and would like to use my existing Mission 752 floorstanding speakers as the front L & R if possable. Is there a way to do this, and if so what would you recommend for smallish centre & rear (would I have to buy a 5.1 system & just use the L & R rear & sub). Also, what would be recommended for an Amp (under £500) and a Blue Ray DVD player (the Sony S350 or Panasonic BD35 both look good). Any advice welcome.

What equipment are you currently using with the 754's??

It is a shame you can't suggest selling stuff on here as I know someone who happens to have a Mission 75 Centre that would match your fronts perfectly just sitting under their bed....

I am using an Arcam Alpha Plus CD player & an NAD 402 tuner Driving the speakers are an Exposure power amp and Passive pre amp.

That Mission 75 sounds as though it could match the 752's nicely. SORRY 752's not 754's

OK, first things first. Having read the latest issue of WHF today I would suggest the Sony S550 BD player and the Sony DA2400ES Receiver.

Then to connect this lot into your current system you will need to connect the front L and R pre-outs on the Sony to a spare input
(usually AV) on your current Pre-Amp. Next you will need to calibrate the receivers speaker settings. When you do this you would need to set the Pre to a
memorable position (like 10 o'clock) and run the calibration. Then each
time you used the receiver for surround you would set the Pre to this
position. (Just remember to turn it down if you change input!).

This way you would only use the receiver for surround and you would still be using the Missions as fronts for everything!

Hope this makes sense!!

As for rears, there are normally plenty that would match on ebay. What sort of rears would you want? Wall mounted? Stand Mounted? Floorstanders etc

A Sub - cannot believe the 754's would need one! Do you have a budget for the speakers??

Now what to do with the centre..........

EDIT - 752 - then that might require a sub.....(I also copied the some of the text from another of my posts and that is why it's a bit crazy)

That all sounds very good. I was after some smallish rear speakers which could be stand mounted as that would make positioning easier. I don't know to much about these sort of speakers but assumed that rears would not be to expensive ie no more than £100 but you have more idea than me. Any suggestions. The centre one is more tricky, what would you suggest.

I have had a look on ebay but there are no standmount speakers on there in the 75 or 78 range that would suit (apart from some 750LE) but they are above budget and I also know someone who has these.

However, how about these ??

Do you have a budget for a Sub??

(Where abouts are you located)

The M30i could be ok, have to see them preferably, hadn't got a price for a sub, any suggestions. I am up in Middlesbrough

Well I suppose I would wait for some suitable Missions to come up on ebay (or similar), such as the 751, 780 or 750LE.

For the sub, TBH I would just make a shortlist from the reviews on this site and go from there with some demo's.
