How to replace a mid-range receiver

When I get my 3D projector later this year, I will need a "3D Ready" receiver. This is because my Blu Ray player only has one HDMI out.

I am increasingly thinking that as long as my new receiver has DSD input (for SACD), and at least "Multi-EQ Audyssey" level of sound-cleansing, that is all I need in terms of a processor. I coudl even go for a slimline Marantz model.

So then, rather than spending £800 to £1k on a mid-range reciever, it would be better to spend ~£300 on a low-end receiver, and use the rest of the money on a quality separates amplifier-only unit, that will do my speakers justice.

Is thsi a good avenue to go down?

I'd be inclined to go for a good quality HDMI switch/splitter circa £100 rather than spending £300 on a budget amp. Then when/if you upgrade your player to one with two HDMI out you can sell it on.
