How the heck do I add a picture or AVATAR of me to my profile ?

Can anyone tell me how I do this - I keep trying and failing.
Can I just load up anything from 'my pictures'

The picture is probably too big, my picture is around 20Kb. You should just be able to upload it although you might have to wait until it's 'approved' so that you haven't used any inappropriate images.
