How many hours of use has your hifi equipment had?

How long have you owned your hifi equipment for and how many hours of use has it had in that time?

I use my AVI Neutrons for an average of about 3 hours per day and I've owned them for about 1.5 years.

So that's 3 hours X 550 days = 1650 hours of use so far.

I use my Sony MP3 player for an average of about 6 hours per day and I've owned it for almost 3 years.

That's 6 hours X 1000 days = 6000 hours of use so far.

About 10 - 12 hours a day (a bit less at weekends).

The Rega R3s were owned by another member here for a couple of years before I bought them, so they have had much more use.

Until recently - like within the last few months - my Thorens TD160 had been in everday use for forty years, and the only thing I've ever had to do to it is change the bearing-oil and replace the drivebelt. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

The oldest part of our setup are the Denon stereo receiver and the Infinity speakers. I bought them in 2000 and they have been playing at least 5 hours per day on average. That would be over 23000 hours.

My Macbook is over 5 years old. It's had a hard drive failure but other than that it still works as good as the day I bought it. In fact, it works better than when I bought it. It came with Leopard (10.5), it has run Snow Leopard (10.6) and now runs Lion (10.7). The extra 1GB of RAM I had installed when I bought it make all the difference though. It's even a decent PC (Windows 7) when rebooting through Bootcamp.

Mmmm..... All my Arcams were pre-loved, so hard to tell. My 602s I bought in summer '02, they probably get about 5-6 hours use per week on average, so that'd work out as somewhere around 3,000 hours/ 125 days. :rockout:

Not a record breaking length of time, for sure, but I would wager there are not many speakers around that have played more kick-drum hits than my 602s.

i had my new set up for 3 months now,i usually listen to online radio through my network player in the morning for a couple of hours and at least 1 cd in the eve..so 3 hours :rockout: + a day..

I've used the same Linn LK20 speaker cable since about 1985. very conservatively it's had 28 years * 52 weeks * 20 hours = 29120 hours of use.

My newest kit is my Rega DAC which has had about 50 hours per week use for 6 months = 1300 hours use.
