How loud can I safely push my speakers?

Hi,

I've recently bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers to go with my Marantz PM6003 amp. As of yet I have only been using them for more private listening to acoustic music and haven't pushed them particularly hard (the amp's volume control never exceeding around 1/3 of it's potential rotation), but with a Halloween house party and use in a larger room around the corner I was wondering how far I can push them without risking damage.

So is fairly vigorous vibration of the woofer cone OK? Obviously it's hard/ impossible to provide an accurate cut-off point via text but broadly speaking should I follow the mantra that if it sounds fine (i.e. doesn't distort) it is fine?

Usually, the volume at the 12 o'clock is the maximum clean output of most amplifiers. Due to speaker sensitivity, this can vary slightly.
