Im just curious as to how long youve had your current screen for?

I ask as i find that at my local HIFI store people seem to upgrade them every year & i personally dont see why this is? I would of had my plasma 2yrs in june & im still more than happy with it if anything i still think it looks just as good as some of the new models IMO.

How long would you keep your screen for before upgrading? I think id want to keep mine for a minimum of at least 3yrs id say?

My Pioneer PDPLX5090 has been with me for almost 1.5 years now and is perfect.

I've had my Pioneer PDP-428D for a couple of years now and I am more than happy with its performance and picture quality, and I wouldn't have considered changing it for at least a couple of years. Then Pioneer decided to leave the Market and I've just bought a KRP-500a, needless to say I won't be buying another for at least 5+ years.

I've only had mine a few months after upgrading from a 36" CRT, which I still miss. I don't intend changing it until it is 4-5 years old.

I've had my toshiba 32WLT66 for about 2.5 Years still going great with no problems, I fancy a larger 40-42" telly when I can eventually afford one.

I've had my Panasonic 42PX60 for about 2 and a half years now. I am very happy with it and wouldn't consider changing for at least another 3 years, probably more. I want to keep it even more now that I found one of the Panasonic cabinet stands for it for £0.01.

I've had my panasonic 46PZ81 for seven months (sept '08) I plan to keep it for ten years or untill it packs up, my next TV will be 50" or bigger & hopefully lighter.

I've had my Sony KDL 40W200 since December 2006, and it's been fantastic. Just added a Panasonic BDP35 Bluray

player and the images are sensational. Definitely no intentions to change yet.

About 3 years - would like a bigger screen (it's 32") but that's down to consumerism more than anything else.

Oh, how times have changed - I remember my parents getting our first colour tv - it lasted 20 years!ÿ

Have had my Sony LCD for about 6 months now, previously I had a CRT. Unless / until there is a significant increase in quality of screens - there's nothing saying I won't keep it forever. (although the 40" screen was a minor mistake - should've gone 46...)

Had my Sonia Bravia 40in for 3 years now - took two years to pay off the HP, so definitely not changing it for a new one for some time yet! Still very happy with the performance.

21 months now, and will be keeping it until it dies!

Picture quality is as good as anything I have seen, especially with it being fed off the Tacima/Russ Andrews classic Powerkord.

Bought 37" Panasonic plasma with bonus 18 months ago.

Had no bonus this year and none likely for some time!! - so no intention or need to change for a few years yet.

I bought my panasonic px60 37 about two years ago. It doesn't except bluray, suffers from terrible colour banding and is too small. But I think I'll wait a year or so for the technology to progress further, then I hope to get either a 46-50 inch screen or a projector.

Its nice to see that just about all of you so far are pleased with your srceens & you have no intensions of upgrading for some years.

I like Trevor use a RA classic powercord on mine & my picture is also as good as alot of current screens ive seen, my hifi dealer told me that he has a customer whos upgraded his plasma twice in one year & still continues to.

Im going to keep mine until the warranty runs out at least which is in june 2012 !

Had my Toshiba 32WLT66 for over 2 years now and still going strong! Was reviewed highly in this magazine and has been true to their word. Will stick with it i think till it dies!

I have a Panasonic 36" flat screen crt,had it about 4 years & i started to think about moving it to another room where the tv has all but died & replacing it with plasma or lcd.

The problem is that i have yet to see a plasma or lcd picture to get near my crt for normal tv,which is what we bought it for.To replace it with an inferior picture doesn't make sense although it would free up some space.

It's on the back burner again, although will take a look at the new ones.

Cliff - the mistake most make with plasma/LCDs and picture quality is that they look at them in the shop from about 60cm away and decide the picture quality is rubbish. If you're sitting 2-3 (or more) metres away from your screen, that's the distance you should judge a larger screen by. A smaller-screen doesn't amplify poor quality broadcasts as much, as a large one - so standback and look at the bigger picture!

I bought my old Pioneer PDP436 XDE just before Christmas 2005. When i bought the KRP500a last month, i decided to put this one in our bedroom. 1st time i've used the freeview Tuner (have Sky HD) and am still very impressed with the picture!. Will keep the KRP at least until the free 5yr warranty expires.

I have to admit, i do love Pioneer plasmas. !!!

I've had my 42" Pana PX80 for just 4 months (Boxing Day) so I'm hardly considering upgrading yet. Not when my OH is, from time to time, giving me grief for having that huuuge telly in our (large) living room. Lol. IF it was our house, I would have gone for a 50" or 60" screen (wall-mounted) and I think I'd been happy for life (at least the tv's lifetime).

I only upgraded because our previous set (Samsung LCD) was such a small screen (26") and had underwhelming sound quality. Had to whack it right up to be able to hear something.

So now, very happy. And superb for hi-def movie watching! ÿ

Big Aura

I understand the in store viewing thing, but my brother has a 42", Samsung i think it is & he does say that the picture isn't up to mine & a neighbour a 40" Sony lcd,so i have seen them in a home setting.

Have to say that i haven't seen any that i would label as rubbish, just don't seem as clear as mine..

The best i've seen was a Panasonic, think it was a 42px80,in comet, they did switch it to SD for me.

I bought my Philips 42PF7621D LCD TV in October 2006 and I will be replacing it later on this year IF I can find a set that is far superior than this one?? (If anyone has any suggestions then please let me know).

I am yet to see anything that has blown me away, but I am wanting a bigger screen (46/50/52) and will have a budget of around £1500.

I think nowadays changing your set every 3 - 5 years is normal; however, my Dad kept his last TV for about 20 years! ... How times have changed! Although, he is pretty old fashioned (and tight) and no doubt wont get rid of his Sony CRT set until that dies!

Try a Pioneer. I used to have a Toshiba 32" picture frame tv, and upgraded to a Pioneer PDP-428D a couple of years ago. I've never seen a better picture on a TV.
