Hotbird or Astra Satellite

Hi all, I have a Pioneer KRP - 500a and i am about to connect it to a satellite dish what is the differance between Astra and Hotbird? Is it possible to have both?

You want Astra2 assuming that is what your dish is aligned to.

Astra2 resides at 28.2 degree's east, and is what both the Sky and Freesat platforms use to transmit their channels and you will be able to pick up the FTA channels with your krp..

Hotbird resides at 13 degree's east, and transmit's mainly european,middle eastern and north african channels with a few english channels. It is possible to receive signals from more than one satellite but depends on your dish type/set up and whether the krp is diseqc/usals compatible.
