Having read the locked thread, my tuppence worth, being a non believer too, when I dislocated a finger on a geordie who slide tackled me at the park. When I took some homeopathic pills it really improved, the days I didn't it hurt more. Anyway on to the important thing of sound quality, and how on earth can a shielded mains cable not work. It reduces interference, often the block will have surge protection and having a Physics A level I would imagine a cleaner signal actually improves the output. Anyway the truth is in the pudding (yes I know).

You took pills and they worked. The human brain is indeed powerful. And before the current litigious society we live in, doctors regularly prescribed 'placebo' drugs. Now they fear to. Instead they use homeopathic pills... ie sugar pills. Same result, without the fear of legal acion.

We most definitely do not prescribe homeopathic pills in the UK. Homeopaths do what they do but we only prescribe licensed and relatively few unlicensed drugs.

errr sugar pills are not a placebo as they have an effect on the body.................i mean what would happen if you gave a diabetic a 'placebo' made of sugar.....

I take it back if you're in the profession. I was going by what I was told by a usually reliable source...But it is indeed true that placebos are no longer prescribed is it not?

although it wouldnt harm anyway as they aren't a drug, or in fact anything other than harmless white bits of nothing.

Only in clinical trials to test the effectiveness of a new drug/treatment where a group or groups are randomised (double blind) to either a control group (placebo) or treatment gp (drug/ treatment to be tested).
ohh who do you work for?
A pair of Forum users actively engaged in finding a cure for cancer and childhood ailments! For that (and not forgetting your willingness to test mains cables), I salute you
