Home Cinema - Which cd player / blu ray player to compliment system

Hi,

Being a complete newcomer to quality hi-fi equipment I would like some guidance in this area:

I've decided to purchase the Sony STR-DA5400ES home cinema amplifier with the Monitor Audio Silver RX6 AV12 speaker package as recommended in What Hi-Fi magazine. My tv is Sony KDL-46W4500.

I listen to music as much as I watch movies. Would purchasing the Sony BDP-S5000ES blu ray player (£600+ award winner) do a good enough job of covering cd playback?

I own a PS3 so could use that as a blu ray player and perhaps spend the money on a quality cd player instead.

Could someone recommend a cd player that would work well with the home cinema amp and speaker package mentioned above? I would be looking to spend no more than £900.

Also which speaker cables and interconnects should I be using?

Apologies for number of questions, but the nearest Hi-fi specialist is quite a distance away.

as for the blu ray player and cd player the sony bdp-s5000es,is your best best,and has been designed for music playback in mind,its not as good as £900 cd player but i say is good as £500 cd player which is good enough cd player for your setup, and its the best blu ray player around for this price,the ps3 wouldn't do the justice for blu ray playback your kit is a much much higher range products the sony's BDB S5000 ES is a great partner and would be my first choice, and you will have everything sony which will make it easier to control via bravia link.
