Just wanted to post my recent purchases of late.
I have spent about 6 weeks debating various AV Receivers and speaker packages.
Thanks to What HiFi review pages, I opted for the Sony STR-DG820, which got a 5 star rating in the £300 category. I picked this up on ebay for £138 in mint condition.
I end up going to Richer Sounds for my speakers and purchased a set of Yamaha NSP285 for £100. I also used their VIP voucher to obtain a discount of £10. They even threw in a £10 3m mini jack lead. Great value and great service (Maidstone branch).
The STR is a bid fiddley in connecting the speakers but now everything is up and running and I have to say the combined sound is nothing short of brilliant.
The STR has an auto calibration and the marries up to the speakers wonderfully.
For a simple yet excellent sound and without having to blow the budget, these speakers and amp are terrific value for less than £250 all in.
