My hifi largely dates from 1986 - Dual 505-2 turntable, NAD3120 amp, Heybrook HB1 speakers on stands, and a later Marantz CD-63 CD player.

The problem is that the large speaker units in both of the loudspeakers have degraded, the rubber membranes sourrounding the cardboard speaker units have fallen apart through age, and the loudspeakers are now unusable as the sound has become severely distorted.

Can the loudspeakers be repaired at economic cost - how much and where? If not, what would be suitable replacements? I have seen the Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom and Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 getting good reviews.
