Hi guys

I have just orded my first 3D tv and need some advice whats best to do with blu ray and amp. I already own a Denon avr 1910 but ive read all the post that there are problems with 3D and my amp. So before i buy a new 3D bly ray player i wonder if i can use my old amp or is it best to upgrade. I have seen that Samsung do a Blu ray player with 7.1 analoge out puts and Panasonic do a player with 2 hdmi sockets, the Samsung is much cheaper, or do i get a Sony 570 which ive seen foe £160 in Richer Sounds and get a 3D amp Denon 1911 or the Yamaha 667 which very good reveiws i have seen them both for £350.00.

Any advice will be much appreciated thanks

I would suggest that most members wil say that all 3 options are viable and it is up to your personall preference to which route you go down.

The 1911 did not get good reviews recently, not I have not heard one to comment.

If it was me in your situation, If budget allows, I would get the 570, with either the Onkyo 608, or save a little and go with the Pioneer VXS-920 or Yamaha 667 (as these 2 are currently on offer). That way you are completey future proofed, rather than get a samsung player which may not have good reviews/picture/sound (as I don't know which model you are think of) or the £300 panny BT300.

EDIT: I have just remembered, If ARC (audi return from your new tv) is important then stay away from the Pioneer, it has 1.4 compliant HDMI sockets, but does not support this feature, I believe.

The other thing that may influence which AV receiver you pick is what speakers you currently have, I assume they match well with your 1910.

Hi

Thanks for advice, realy helpfull.

The Samsung blu ray player i was writing about is the 6900 model with 7.1 analog, but your sugestion makes sence.

My Denon amp is useing speakers i have brought over 5 years. The front ones are Eltax synphonys book shelf type, the rears are four Q acoustics 1010i ,the centre is a Tannoy and the sub is a mordaunt short, i know its a mish match but they sound good.

I like look of the Yamaha and it got a good wright up in whfi, ive had a few Denons in the past but my 1910 was very dificuilt to set up, that just me and the Sony BDP570 seems to be the best blu ray at the moment.

Thanks again

The 1911 did get good reviews, 4 stars in WHF, is that not good?

I listen to this against the Onkyo, Pioneer etc and preferred, and bought, the Denon.

As WHF always say, use their reviews as guides, get a demostration for yourself and listen to your ears.

What you like is not what everybody else likes.
