Hi, in my price range i've narrowed my choice of flatscreen between two Pana's the Full HD lcd or the new HD Ready plasma. I've seen both of these TV's running HD demos and SD television feeds, and the plasma seems to look better. It also has the 100HZ and 24fps, with the 3HDMI, so a very good set.

However, the Pana lcd is a full HD 1080p set, and i think thats the thing thats holding me back from just going for the new plasma. I will be using the new tv for SD terrestial/SKY+, and with the XBOX 360 for upscaling DVD viewing and gaming. It was the gaming and future Blu-Ray (when get PS3 later in year) that really got me thinking about full 1080p as opposed to 720p. But maybe i'm just getting too hung up on this aspect to it.

I do have a third choice, the Sony KDL40D3500, again a full HD LCD. Any views on whether this is a good set, as I've not seen any reviews.

Everyones's views would be really appreciated!!!

the two panasonics you chose are both good choices... i would prefer the plasma, simply for the better SD quality in my opinion, but let your eyes be the judge and find a shop that has both on display and have a look :)

I agree that the plasma is better looking for SD. Have seen both sets running both SD and HD material but i could'nt really make my mind up on the HD stuff.

What about the Sony KDL-D3500? Or even the KDL-V3000? Would these be a good option if i went down the lcd route. Have seen these in major retailers but were using poor quality feeds so hard to judge. The Pana's were set up in smaller shops, but both of these were very Panasonic biased, saying that Sony is good for HD but not so good for SD.......but I guess they would say that would'nt they!

I really wouldn't worry about 1080p - it's not essential, and the tech specs don't tell the whole story. We've been hugely impressed by Panasonic's plasmas in the past, and although we haven't tested the new 37in yet, I'd be extremely surprised if it was a let-down.

The TX-37LZD70 is a great set (5 stars, Dec 07), but we marginally preferred the previous plasma model which was one of our Best Buys in our 2007 Awards. I'd definitely go for plasma over LCD.

I'm hoping to get mine this week too, as such I'd also like to see a test of this set. Is the test due any time soon Andy?
