a friend wants to trade his Harman Kardon HK990 to my Roksan Kandy K2. i'm considering it cause i want more power for future floorstanders.

anybody heard both? I'm a bit confused.

please help.

Unless your eyeing up floor standers that are hard to drive, the K2 will be up to driving floor standers. I currently have mine with B&W CM7s. Before that had a Musical Fidelity XA2 which is just 75 wpc, and that was fine.

Remember Roksan also do a matching k2 power amp as well.

But, then the HKs digital input are great if you need them.

HK990 for me. More versatile, heard it and was impressed. Can you compare the two together?

@richard, i have used it with m.a. bronze br5, a floorstander, never had problem driving, easy load, sounded great. Also with b&w cm1 which is a bit harder to drive due to its low sensitivity but the k2 handled the load easily, i was impressed.

i plan to buy a dynaudio audience 70 used, it bothers me if my k2 can drive it decently.

@the record spot, yes i've read some great reviews of the hk990 and i really would love to hear them together so i could compare the two. thanks for the input it helps me a lot. how good is the hk990?

the k2 is a very good all-rounder with any genre of music. i wanna hear opinions from those who already had hk990.

Not many on here have heard it far less actually own it. More people will typically lean towards the usual suspects given their prevalence in the magazines, so you'll find more NAD, Arcam, etc...than Harman. The HK990's a cracking amp, but they're releasing some new kit soon (see their website) though it suggests AV more than two-channel. Might be worth waiting to be certain though...just in case.

thanks trs, looks like i need to hear them really both for me to arrive at my decision. many thanks again.
