Hi forum - I'm hoping you can help me decide whether to change my TV.
I bought a Sharp AQUOS LC40LU700 from Richer Sounds on Sunday. The other TV I had in mind (Samsung UE40B7020) wasn't on display so I couldn't compare side-by-side, although I had been impressed by it in another shop, and of the TV's in the shop, only mine was displaying HD content - The picture looked very impressive. The reason I went for the Sharp over the Samsung is the array LED backlighting and the Missus preferred the style of the Sharp. A drawback of edge lighting the christmas tree effect was mentioned to me although I thought the picture was good and I liked the slim profile.
So far I think the picture is a massive improvement on my old Phillips 32 inch LCD TV and overall I'm happy with it. Blacks are real black instead of grey and gaming on the PS3 is a delight. HD tv is improved but I'm yet to try a blu-ray - I should make that high on my list tonight! My concern is that it feels like I'm watching in fast forward sometimes. I've tried switching the 100Hz on and off to no real signs of improvement. The two main times I've noticed are once when playing back Heroes recorded from BBC HD on my Virgin Media V+ HD box and the other time watching channel 4 HD in delay.
Is this something unique to my TV, a phenomena related to the increase in screen size, V+ playback or passing the signal through my Onkyo reciever? As I didn't experience this on my old set I'm inclined to dismiss the latter two and of the former two I'm not sure. If this is unique to my TV then I have a few days to enable me to swap for the Samsung, but I don't want to do this if the same thing is going to happen.
Anyway, I hope someone can help! Much aprreciated.
