HELP.......Best set up on leads

Hi hoping i can get some help on here as not sure on what the best lead is to use.

Have the panasonic BD55 that is going to be connected to the Yamaha 863SE......now i know HDMI is my best source for my movies etc but for the time being im going to use the BD55 for music as well (have been told its very good with music as well). Question is, is the HDMI still the best source for music or can and should i use an OPTICAL COAXIAL Cable as i do have one of them....

Any thoughts on this??? and thanks for any help in advance.

right have done that.....first off a mistake from yesterdays post its a digital optical lead that i have (looked different on the ends is what confused me lol)...

anyway i set that up along with the hdmi from the panasonic to the yamaha and did mess around with it a bit and must say could not notice any real differance on the sound for music when trying it. What i did find however was using the 'pure direct' on the yamaha gave me a terrible sound and i set it up as 'dvd music listening' gave me a much richer and fuller sound. Today im going to mess about a bit more on that, see what differant set ups give me.

think im missing something here...tested with ironman last night and the yamaha was showing the hdmi indicator as lit but the decoder was showing dolby digital plus....now im thinking ironman should be showing dolby true HD. again the set up is hdmi from the panasonic to the yamaha. Anyone got any ideas where im going wrong there???? again i will be messing around with it more today.

Have yet to test the ps3 out to see if thats set up right but im thinking there should be no problem there as that is now set with just the hdmi going into the yamaha. Also using a digital optical lead from the sky+ box to the yamaha gave that a much improved sound from what i had before (just the stereo connecters)

The auto set up on the yamaha was very impressive as well, did a very good job on the measurements etc only tweak i have had to do so far was turn the centre speaker up a touch as that did sound a little a low.

Anyone who can offer in help on the setup thanks in advance, will update if i get it sorted on my own, in case it can help others out.
