ok I am new to headphones so be gentle !

I will buy a Rega Ear amp.

Looking at spending up to £100 first, will I be able to get a decent pair considering my source & amp ?

I am no expert but I think you should get a very decent pair for that money.

You know what I bought and then there's AKG's 550 for under £100. Musical Fidelity's MF100 is around that price too I believe. Sennheisers professional HD25 SPII and others.

Subjective thing headpones and fit will dictate whether you want to listen to them too.

Dale is the resident expert so can probably help

£100 or fractionally over will buy you a pair of ATHM50X which IMO represent state of the art for the money. Sure your ears might be different and you may listen to them and feel they're rubbish, but even if all you do use them as a baseline to compare all others at the same price, you won't go far wrong.

I tried them some years ago at a pro-audio shop. They sounded very good (much more involving than some AudioTechnica's, including the ATH-M50 and some other cheaper Sennheisers) but the clamping force was somewhat high. Not sure I could wear them too long otherwise I would have bought them.

The Alessandro MS1i is a no brainer at this price.

You wont pay import duty (marked as gift) and its free delivery from USA.

For $99 its a steal in my book. I own the MS2i and they are superb.

Made in conjunction with Grado so you know your getting great phones.

They are better sounding than Grado SR80e as they are tuned for midrange so anything with guitars will be an amazing listen.
