Now that Samsung have scrapped plans to release their BD-UP5500 dual format player and concentrate on Blu-ray only, when the current batch of (not very good) D/F runs out there will be a surplus of bargain priced HD-DVD discs out there. Those with the space for two machines may end up being the only real winners.

i suppose that there is some logic there, but at the moment LG still say they will be bringing out another dual player , we will see, but why will retailer lower prices? there is still a demand so why lower prices is you can still make a good profit? when demand drops off then you need to lower prices. Or if you are just dumping stock then that is a different issue. I cant say that i have seen any massive price drops just less stock.

I've just had a combination of 18 Hd-DVD's shipped from Australian sites for around £115 including p&p, so i would suggest the sale has started.

Brilliant from my point of view as i now have an extensive collection of over 30 HD-DVD's and got them all for around £6each and my sources suggest there are more on the way!!!!!

Movietyme now have HD discs at £5.99 and up, including shipping.

Also Zavvi have now begun returning all their HDDVDs back to the supplier for refunds. My local store no longer stocks the format. I suspect this - and others like it - may be the source of the foreign fire-sale.
