HD 1080p streamer using mkv files

Firstly I hope this is in the correct forum.

I am looking for a network stremaer device capable of streaming HD 1080p mkv files to my sony tv. My setup is that I have a Synology DS211j NAS with all my videos on it this is connected to a BT Homehub3. I currently have been using my Sony BDP S370 blu ray player via dlna to stream movies to my tv from the synology again via wired connection but I am getting very stuttery playback and thought a dedicated media streamder would be the best way forward.

I do not have a specific budget in mind but the cheaper the better.

I have a mate who uses a Boxee and that works fine for him. WHF have reviewed it, so see if you can look up that review
