As above. Don’t want to pay for spottily premium as i only use it to find new music before buying it. not having the disposable income does not help but I do have old phones etc.

oh want to drop to it from another iPhone or iPad not a PC/Mac.

there are some apps that allow that.

when are the record shops opening again?

Well. It found anything to do exactly what I want yet. Might have to try a free premium subscription to spotify to see if it works. But in the meantime I pulled out an old iPhone and set it the Apple universal dock. And had a play with dropping songs to it. Limited success. In the meantime still could not find the remote. Finally found it. Basic control. Skip forward and back. Volume wake up etc. Better than nothing.

If you are using Spotify free, would life not be simpler with a bluetooth dongle or picking up and plugging in an old Google Mini, whose price ranges from free to not a lot (you can turn the mike off). You could then just use the old iPhone (or any other device) as a remote control.

April 12th is the date you are looking for, all being well. :)
