Ok I'm starting to get really annoyed, I have some Grado Prestige SR60's which I loved for so long, the reviews made me purchace these babys, after about 2 months the left driver 'left speaker' deciced to stop working and you can't hear it play at all, after that i decided it was a fault and purchased the 'SR-125's' and TODAY they have decided to to the same thing, the left driver has STOPPED working, WHY? what do i do. why has it stopped working, please some body help. this is now redicoulous.

I have now spent ALOT of money on Grado what is casuaing this, what can I do, can I get a refund, can i get a replacement, this is silly and I', really not impressed, the sound on these headphones is amazing, but replacing them every few months is definatly not an option, what is going on, please help audio friends!

Do you have a dangerous/oddly magnetic left ear?

But seriously - know how frustrating these things can be, I've flagged this thread up to Grado's UK distributor to see if they can help.

Wow, such a quick reply, at 11 on a wednesday night I'm so thankfull, you don't realise how much I appreciate your input, thank you so much...

Is the headphone socket you are using a little knackered ot something? Try the headphones on different sources/amps, and try known-to-be-working headphones/earphones on the headphone socket you use for you main listening. Also, if you are using the adaptor for the different sized jacks, the problem could lie there.

Or maybe you are somehow yanking the bit of cable going into the left cup, and disconnecting it?

Hi JamesPart. Hopefully both are covered by warranties. I think you have been unlucky, Grado do not appear to be unreliable or badly made. Mine are still going strong after 8 years. I hope you get both sorted

Agreed. It's cold comfort I know, but it seems you've been unusually unlucky. My 125s are still fine after years of use.

I wouldn't dismiss Grado out of hand dur to your problems. Here's hoping it'll be Third time lucky!

Hello James,

I'm very sorry to learn about the problem you're experiencing with your headphones and I'm grateful for the advice given to you by 'Olli1234' regarding verifying the fault by trying them with another source. If the problem persists, or you do not have access to an alternative source, please return the headphones to the retailer that supplied them to you. They will be happy to sort everything out.

Best regards,

Thanks for all the replies, I've just tested the earphones on my stero amp, pc speakers, ipod with and without the jack adaptor and still only one driver on the earphones works so I'm guessing it is the earphones. Could my amp somehow be causing damage to them by any chance, I'm using a RA-04 to power them.

I'm pretty sure I ordered them from Armour Home, is this the only UK supplier, I'll send them next week.
I actually purchased the SR60's from a good friend, will I not beable to get these fixed too, thanks!

Thanks again guys.

Its highly unlikely to have been the amp or else you would have been doing something, probably at very high volumes which would obviously be a risk to the headphones and your ears. Even then I would not expect the problem to be with one driver.

Hm ok, just seems very strange how it's happend to 2 pairs in the same way, is the left driver a common issue for grado or headphones in general? I don't get it, MAYBE it is just a big coincidence weird.

I have had a trawl through a specific head-fi forum and there is the odd post about blown drivers. But if there was a major problem it would have flagged up there. I still think you have been unlucky, sorry.

Just making sure, will I be fine to send these on monday then to Armour Home, should I include a print out of this thread?

Can't hurt.
