Does anyone know if the new Google Chromecast Audio would work with a Rotel RO-01 amplifier? I'm a complete novice.

As far as I understand yes as long as you have a suitable device to control the app.

Yes, it will work. But as Drummerman said you will need a device to control the app, such as a computer, tablet or smartphone.
