I have decided to get a new receiver and blu ray player for my speakers - B&W FPM4s all round and a PV1. My main critiria is that I want something that is well matched to my speakers (ie I don't want to overspend and get something that my speakers won't do justice to). I'd like to get something with all the new codecs (including DTS-HD Master Audio) but sound quality is the most important factor. Budget for both receiver and blu-ray player is £1500-£2000.

Hi

I have the 4's as rears and the 6's and as the front two with the 5 as a centre with the pv1 and I have the pioneer sc-lx81 amp and the pioneer bdp-lx71 blu ray player.

My system sound's fantastic I would definetely recommend that combination for you.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hi

The 81 is very musical it is one of the best amplifier I have heard with music dvds and blu rays with the amplifier being THX ultra 2 plus it terms of music quality it certainly improves things.

Yamaha DSP-Z7 with Sony BDP-S5000ES, if you are able to stretch your budget quite a bit, or the lower Yamaha RX-V3900 with the Sony BDP-S5000ES.

Sorry but I am not that familiar with RRP's in the UK, because I am Australian.

Dan.

Yamaha DSP-Z7 (£1650) with the Pioneer BDP-320 (£360) or Oppo BDP-320 (£450). The Oppo adds SACD/DVD-Audio/MKV playback, if you're not interested in those, go for the Pioneer. Although it won't upscale DVD's as well as the Oppo, it doesn't matter as the Yamaha has Anchor Bay processing. The Yamaha is well respected for it's stereo abilities, but you could enhance this system further still at a later date with a seperate DAC.
