I bought a stack of gold plated ones from ebay. £3.25 (best offer, including postage) for 20.
I thought of buying more expensive ones, but after reading up about hi-fi myths, I settled on the cheap ones. And I don't notice any difference in sound quality.
Do you have a Maplins near you? They carry a variety of banana plugs, solder type, screw type, gold plated etc. Profigold banana plugs are pretty good and I believe Maplins have them. Ebay also a good source, loads there.
+1 on that, got 20 plugs (10 pairs) for £8.99 - perfectly good quality and short as well (which is useful, especially round the back of a deep AVR amp or rear/on-wall speakers.
