After a few years i have decided to replace my tv and buy a sound system and need advice on what to choose.

Current system:

28in panasonic crt tv, Playstation 3, xbox 360 elite, Bt vision box, Jvc home cinema system (cant find a model number and now its broken)

Looking for:

32in HD lcd tv, New surround sound system

As long the tv is good quality and i can connect my vbox, playstation and xbox to the sound system i will be very happy! I have a limited budget of about £1100 and need some advice since im rubbish at this!! any thing you can say to help will be great

Well the great news is you've got a reasonable budget and some decent sources.

TV-wise, Panasonic's new TX-32LZD80 (see review here) is excellent, and already widely available for £699 or less.

I'd then add Onkyo's TX-SR505 surround sound receiver (an Award winner; list price £250 available for less if shop around; plenty of inputs for all your sources).

Finally, Jamo's A102HCS5 speaker package packs a lot of punch for its tiny size and small price tag (£250 - again, there are deals).

There you go - five-star sound and vision for just about bang on or just a tad over your £1100 budget!

that sounds fantastic, but on the flip side i wanted to ask advice on another tv i spotted today, Its the sony KDL32S3000, a local store is offering brand new and boxed for £432.99 as they are doing stock clearance, is that any good do you think?

It's good, but very much at the budget end of the market - you'll get a much better picture (not to mention more features and flexibility) by investing a few more hundred pounds on a higher-end model. And judging by your wide range of sources, your TV is very important to you - definitely worth the extra, i'd say

I am a TV salesman so I get the privelidge of seeing all of these lovely screens side by side and I would not recommend the 32S3000, however the 32D3000 is still very competitive, available at around £600. This TV is definitely a notch down from the panasonic that Clare mentioned in terms of vibrance and black levels, so the extra £99 is definitely justified however, this saving can be put towawrds a DVD player such as the Denon DVD1740. Alternatively the Samsung 32R88 is a better budget purchase than the sony offered at £429 on the dixons website this leaves you with more cash for a better speaker package.

But the Samsung set can't accept a 1080p signal (neither can the cheaper Sony) or support 24fps - both of which i'd consider an essential with a PS3 the main movie source....

well i think the panasonic is gonna be the one for me, unless more money becomes available (which i doubt haha) but if i was thinking of upping my budget (say to 1400), what would be the next tv to look at?

quick note, forgot to say earlier that I worked out my viewing distance and 32 - 37in is the highest i can go without burning my face off so any other suggestions would be great to, gotta say though that your advice so far has been fantastic!
