Hi....I'm planning to reclaim my 400+ vinyls from my son's room. I'm looking at Rega / project decks......although I don't know if I need to pay that much! I have a pair of Alesis active speakers which I've been using to play guitar via small recording unit......I don't know if these are appropriate for vinyl? ....also...if I want to add CD unit...there won't be anywhere to connect it ..unless deck will allow connection. So I now think maybe a mini CD / radio/ small speakers are what I need to complete the setup. This is for bedroom. I'm not after top end quality...just something decent for my own use. Any advice appreciated....sorry if my explanation is confusing! thanks.

Hi, I've had a Rega (years ago) and now a Project... Both really good for the price, and would recommend either.

as I am sure others will say, finda good hifi store and have a good listen!

Personally I like the sound of Pro-Ject turntables. Just beware that if you're going to plug in a Pro-Ject turntable into a mini system you will need a phono stage. Pro-Ject make the Elemental and Essential with USB connections and built in phono stage. I don't think Rega do anything similar.

Obviously a TT like the Essential USB is not particularly a cheap component but it is leagues better than other offerings.
