Hi guys,

Would anyone know if Full-HD CRT screens 32" or larger exist? And if not,why so?

Be interesting to compare the performance of similarly spec'ed Full-HD Plasma & CRT displays.

Thanks.

There was a 720p Samsung 32" CRT around a couple of years ago and if I remember rightly wasn't very good.I don't recall hearing of any 1080p CRT's, maybe there is such a thing in America or Japan.

I would guess that no manufacturer is going to go the the expense of making such a beast due to the lack of interest in CRT's these days.I couldn't really see it taking off.Plus I don't really see the benefit of a 32" 1080p panel as you would have to be sitting VERY close to make use of the extra resolution.

Hi Oy,

Sorry mate.I meant to write...'42" or larger?'

Your point about the majority of manufacturers production being geared towards Plasma & LCD technology, making the unit cost of each CRT set more expensive than comparable Plasma or LCD screens,is a valid & perfectly understandable one.Though,i can't help feeling that this older technology still has the potential to be exploited further still by the manufacture of suitably specified High-Def. CRT displays.

Well, now that we're officially facing a global economic recession,i reckon these semi-nostalgic sentiments are like whistling into the wind.

Thanks for replying though.

Still, I really don't see why they aren't making CRT TVs anymore. And also, companies such as LG and Samsung have released thin CRTs a few years agoÿhttp://gizmodo.com/archives/samsung-develops-thin-crt-television-024892.php to combat LCD screens.ÿWhy can't manufactures make these instead of LCD and plasma screens? And even though LCDs/Plasmas are a bit thinner, I would still rather have a TV that's a bit thicker with a true, audiophile quality performance than a super thin TV with average picture quality.
