Its surely not worth buying any tv as is, untill they have the new tech integrated?

Who wants a set top box for the next 5 years plus!

I don't think it is a big issue. Personally I see set-top boxes as being something we will just have to accept in the future unless we want to have to change the whole TV every time a new broadcast technology becomes available.
