Lol to be honest never even seen banana plugs before so i don't even know how they fit on. However the fact that they require special fitting tools is making me think that they are not so convenient after all

They just push into the centre of the speaker terminal, no need to unscrew the outer bit. You may find a blanking plug in the hole. pull it out, and you're good to go.

Not all banana plugs require specialist fitment. The likes of QED Airlocks do require being crimped on,and Chord ones are soldered on for example, but you can after market ones like this that you just insert the cable into and tighten down the screw tops to clamp the cable in place!

QED do a 'Screwloc' banana too, but they're not cheap. Around £15 a pair. As Dave said, the cable goes in the end and a grub screw or two clamp the cable in place. Nothing more specialist than a pair of wire cutters and a small screwdriver required.

EDIT: It's £15 for 4.

There are plenty of cheaper options that are the same screwloc mechanism. Check out ebay, you could get 16 banana plugs for a tenner.

Indeed. But the QED ones cost more, so they've got to be better!

Or you could get these and they are probably the same without "Profigold" written on them.
