I'm looking to buy my first turntable/amp/speakers. I've been looking to get into this for quite some time.

Could someone recommend some systems for me starting off? I have a budget of £400.00

I agree with the lhc, you really need five to six hundred quid. You might get a Richer Sounds bundle of amp and speakers for £250 ish, esp if you choose a repackaged model, and get a brand new Project Elemental turntable for £159 brand new. Make sure the amp has a dedicated phono preamp stage as many don't these days.

It is doable to get decent starter kit for this type of money if you are looking to go second hand! Few weeks ago I've been seeling my backup kit and I've made a £200 bundle consisting of MS10i speakers, Pioneer 333 amp, denon DCD435 CD player and Dual 415 Turntable. This might not be the high end but it's a great startup kit. So my point, if you are willing to spent some time on gumtree looking for decent second hand kit than £400 can get you really nice starter setup! So if you want a recomendation of the second hand kit you can get some nice amps going reasonably cheap on gumtre, check 930ax/bx, nad 320bee, nad 3020, pioneer a400, denon pma 250 or 350 etc. they should be sold there for aruound £50-£100Speakers wise check: MS10i/MS20i (preferebly pearl edition), bower wilkins 600/601, Wharfedale Diamonds 8.1/9.1/10.1, Q accoustic speakers etc. most of the stuff can be bought for 50-100£Turntable wise, well you have plenty to choose from, you can go with new project turntale, or again you can get some decent second hand TT. For 200£ I've seen some technics 1210TT this is easy to use, great sounding TT. There is plenty of others but once again this would require spending some time on gumtree :). Good luck with assembling your kit m8!
