Exclusive review of 2008 Samsung LCD

I have a Samsung pc monitor at home and every now and again I spot the name and it reminds me of Chelsea shirts. I won't ever buy Samsung again regardless of how good it's stuff is - and that the new sets are red!!

As a Chelsea season ticket holder the sponson on our shirts has never had any weight on the items I buy even tho I do own a Samsung Plasma. Lastly COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!!!!

You've got to get over this, Gerrardasnails - my dislike of Everton hasn't put me off a nice cold Chang or two...

I've had a Samsung phone which died just outside the guarantee and a Samsung video that smoked and went pop.

I've taken the hint.

Very hi spec assembly there, have a tendency to under perform and unappreciated by many. AND they are sponsored by Samsung. Nuff said! 🙂

Simon, I don't drink Carlsberg because it's rubbish lager - even though the logo looks great on red! However, if the Mancs or toffees were sponsored by Stella, well I'd lose a stone in a year!

Hi Gerrardasnails,

I suppose if Wayne Rooney scores a goal for England you wouldn't cheer or Ryan Giggs scores for Wales or Darren Fletcher for Scotland or John O'Shea if your Irish (depending on your nationality)? Silly reason to not buy something.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

You mean you missed out on owning a Sharp ViewCam?!

As for that team in red at the wrong end of the East Lancs Road being sponsored by Carlsberg... a foreign owned company that's overpriced, trailing behind competitors and leaves a bad taste in the mouth? Sounds about right to me!

I boycotted Colman's Mustard for ages after they sponsored our yellow-feathered East Anglian rivals.... And don't get me started on Delia

Hi,

As I said earlier - how can you boycott a company that invests in a team you don't support but you will cheer a player that plays for that same team when they have a nations jersey on?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

It's not the players, it's the team - anyone who financially supports your rivals (and therefore may give them an advantage over you) should be shunned

And anyway, you don't get many Norwich players getting picked for the England squad.

Cofnchtr, I was talking a tad "tongue in cheek". Although Rooney is the lowest of the low - a bluenose who joined the Mancs (Neville Neville's youngest son not far behind him). I do cheer him on for England but only for the odd 90 mins every couple of months. And Joe, you can hardly harp (no bad lager pun intended) on about being sponsored by bad products. As an editor on a hifi mag, how many Sharp items do you own? Honestly? I can imagine you sprinting to your kitchen to get your microwave model number!!

Hi,

The players are the team. The players may give that team an advantage over your own.

If a sponsor who had previously sponsored your rivals then sponsored your team you would stop boycotting their products?? Is this boycotting limited to just your 'local derby' teams or any team within that league/division/country? Can it come into play if your team qualifys for the Champions League and subsequently plays a team sponsored by Samsung? Sony? Audi? Pirelli? Do you stretch it out as far as the parent organisation and every company that belongs to the group?

Presuming you shun those who support your rivals, you will fully get behind those that give financial support to your team and therefore you'll only travel with flybe or you have an account at the Norwich & Peterborough, you don't shop at B&Q as all your DIY is bought at Wickes?

Does this bias then influence your reviews of Samsung products as they support your rivals?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Do I detect a slight sense-of-humour failure here?

It was but football banter, dear Cofnchtr - wouldn't let anything influence our reviews. Believe me, there are circumstances far more vexing than football-team support that could infuriate us - but it's always the best product at the best price that wins out.

I have my eyes and ears insured by AIG I'll have you know...!

And I thought being on a forum like this meant you didn't have to listen to people banging on and on about bloody football all the time.

It's a game, that's all - just accept it.

Really annoys me when the TV or radio news says 'And now here's the sport...' and all it is is football. Why don't they just say 'And now here's the football, because no other sports actually exist'

Hi,

My original post was in answer to a reply by an obviously fanatical Liverpool supporter who's original comment did not read as 'tongue in cheek'.

Your subsequent post Clare, also fuelled the intent behind your comments as I read them - you made two statements of which the 2nd one was clearly banter:

It's not the players, it's the team - anyone who financially supports your rivals (and therefore may give them an advantage over you) should be shunned

And anyway, you don't get many Norwich players getting picked for the England squad.

Sometimes things written can be misread or misunderstood as there's no emotions shown. This may have happened in this instance.

Some things can grate on some people more than others and this is one of the things that get my goat. I don't understand why some people can fight with a group of 'rival' supporters yet can find themselves standing next to them the next week at an international match, cheering and celebrating with that same person if their chosen team wins. At the end of the day it's the same person.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

It's just a game - I'll second that.

I dont think the amount of money Samsung pays us has much to do with what we spend as Roman is propper minted and its almost like playing Pro-Evo 2008 for him but with the real thing not a XBOX 360!
anyway we are not sponsored by Samsung but Samsung Mobile and I have a Nokia N95 so it shows how much the sponsorship influenced my choice of phone. That's 3 Premiership teams through to the last 8 lets see if the scousers can make it all 4 next Tuesday?Quite fitting if Chelsea do win it this year seeing as the final is in Moscow. Do Easyjet go to Moscow?? COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!

...Oh and people using the first person plural to describe the team they support...

You're not in the team. They play, you go and watch.
You're not in the team. They play, you go and watch
Were are the all important 12th man Andrew! Obviously not a footie fan then are we. Personally I only go to enjoy the acoustics of the stadium and wonder what amp they are using to run the PA system LOL. One thing is for sure is that The Liquidator by Harry J. All Stars(for those who are not Chelsea Fans it,s the song they play before the match) definatly sounds better on my system LOL.
