Standmounts vs floorstanders? Do you want a big sound or a fast sound? I personally like floorstanders for mellow listening, and standmounts for kitchen/party sounds, but would still go for the Epos.
I understand why you miss the M71i. Those speakers where super fast and dynamic, very entertaining.
The iQs are too soft, too bland, I don't like them at all. Transient response is really weak.
If you want something fast, go for the M5i. Keep in mind that they are ultra lean though, with almost no low bass. I used to own the previous model (M5) and also the M12.2. They both need a bit of wall reinforcement, to achieve a rounder sound.
You could also check the Mission M31i. They are just as good as the M71i. I'm now using a pair of M31i's in my bedroom system and you might think I'm crazy, but I prefer them to the M5 and M12.2. Obviously they are not as refined, clean or detailed as the latter, but they are much easier on the ears; I like their frequency balance better, and they are just as fast and rythmic as the Epos.
