The sub's less of a concern, personally, you could always get one from a dedicated manufacturer, such as REL (other manufacturers are available). Similarly I'd probably be keeping my existing surround speakers, but I appreciate not everyone is in that position.

Andrew Everard,

That is very disappointing news indeed, and quite frankly a wasted golden opportunity.

Ronald

I hate AV. Always have. If I want to see a film, I go to the cinema. However, much to your surprise, EBC will happen. Bit busy at mo but will look into it.

Why?

Some business models don't simply rely on expansion for the sake of it. Or did you mean just for you

I'm starting to get suspicious here.

I mean, if not here, where do EB get any coverage?? Perhaps I'm wrong and I'm not blaming WH but there's to many threads about EB ...

Ive read a fair bit of coverage on other forums to.

I guess the excitement is about a wel designed speaker that keeps cost down by cutting out the middleman. Plus , unlike my Neutrons you have the chance of sending them back if you dont like. Pretty cool.

No argument about either their service or product. It's the way they get exposure which starts to smell fishy.

Well the same could be said about ATC SCMxx speakers and even AVI ADM9.1s, especially recently with the two reviews in WHF and Gramophone and the nomination for readers award causing a lot of chat about them.

I don't remember ATC being an active forum member nor have I heard AVI here lately, after having been banned for a multitude of reasons, some of which I understand.

Tell me chebby, if it wasn't for this forum and publication, how would EB sell anything?

Maybe I'm wrong but this does'nt look to kosher to me. Fake posters to re-ignite old threads?

Rega have never produced any advert in any magazine and (until this year) have never been at any hifi show since 1973 when they first started.

They are also very reluctant to give out kit for review.

How did anyone find out about them? How did they ever sell anything? (Especially as there was no World-wide-web until at least 1990 and - even then - it took a few years to catch on.)

Are you saying if EB Acoustics never posted here then no-one would have ever heard of them? (or Arcaydis.)

They are more than ably represented by one or two of their dealers here and many of their customers.

Not quite the same.

I think EB is fuelling the same few threads over and over again by whatever means necessary.

Cleverly done.

I will bow out now.

I don't represent any manufacturer or person related to your theory so it is none of my business really.

Best left to EB Acoustics and What Hifi to discuss that with you.

C'mon bud, what are you ... a lawyer?

Like I said, my opinion only and perhaps I'm wrong but this whole thing feels ... odd.

I can guess what the replies will be, even without a crystal ball. Still, I have no proof and don't really give a damn anyway but have noticed this EB re-surrection a few times to many. Nothing like a bit of controversy here eh ...

You obviously do give a damn given your vociferous postings!

Best left to Andrew E and the crew to decide what constitutes breaches of forum rules, if any.

You could say that about many, many manufacturers posting on here. SHB for one, have many enthusiastic customers, and good for them.

This is just life. Many dealers and manufacturers post advice. It's nice to have industry specific people posting, as long as they are suitably tagged.

Better ask Mr EB himself! Would be surprised if there's anything fishy going on (are you really suggesting that there are planted posts just to up the exposure? Really?), just people curious at a successful enterprise, as well as some satisfied customers.

As for my non-response for a while, apologies, but I've been in far too many airports and working in unconnected places to be keeping entirely up to date. For info, my speakers arrived exactly when promised and apart from a slight problem with a buzzing tweeter (fixed very easily - probably just a bit of dirt) they've been working beautifully ever since. Only slight problem is that I need a bit more from my amp, so have played around with that. We'll see how it works out.

And if it's hype, I've fallen for it and am not at all unhappy with the result!
