Dunno if many of you know about this; only ran for two series about three years back on BBC2. Set in a pub in an anonymous northern town it features the goings on of Ken the landlord and his hotch potch of regulars that come in. It features some very poignant scenes, especially those where Ken's adopted daughter finds her real dad. On the other hand, the first DVD totally nails a typical lads day out...!

Totally understated, brilliant writing, some of the lines are delivered with near clinical timing. The DVDs are currently a fiver each in HMV's sale - well worth the cash.

I`ve heard too many people praise this series to keep ignoring it. £5.00? Might have to check these out. Thanks.

Excellent series. Loved the cops that came round for a drink and one had to drive. Very touching and funny at the same time, which is always a good sign

Pleasure! Just to let you know, it features John Henshaw as Ken, who you'll recognise from the recent Post Office adverts on the telly and recent Hollywood find James McAvoy (Last King of Scotland) playing Ken's adopted daughter's boyfriend, a couple of gems amongst a great cast.

was a great series, enjoyed it thoroughly, think it was written by craig cash,of royal family fame if i remember correctly, and also starred in it

I can vouch for this as my mum bought this for my birtthday last yr even though i hadn't seen it, like you say has poignant moments but some great understated comedy

Well worth a purchase
