DVD Player / Recorder as a decent CD Player?????

Hi,

I've copied all my cd's to my ipod classic to complete the minamalist look in our lounge, so the cd towers are a thing of the past.

We have kept 30 or so of our latest cds out and I've tried playing them through my LG dvd recorder, and the sound quality, compared with my CD player (which we no longer have space for) is shocking!!

Is there a decent DVD player / recorder on the market which will support both formats, as my LG is also only scart so seems like a good excuse to transfer to upscaling. I've heard rumours of some of the Cambridge Audio DVD players putting out similar quality sound to their CD players??

Thanks

James

I am having very good results from a Sony 970RDR recorder with putting 50CD's onto its hard drive.

Mind you I am feeding it with a Russ Andrews Classic Powerkord which improves things greatly.

The Cambridge Audio 540D DVD player has great audio playback quality as well as great picture via HDMI up scaling to 1080i, region free too from Richer Sounds.
