Have a Pioneer 428 coming on Sat, and currently run a Pioneer DV-717 (I know it's old) dvd player, which I think still gives a great picture. Looking to replace with the Marantz 7001 to bring myself up-to-date, just want to make sure I'm gonna really notice the difference for my money?? Not worried about high-def yet, gonna wait for the battle to end.... Also looking for a 19-20inch LCD for the kitchen, I know the Tosh is a best-buy, but read a couple of customer reviews that weren't too hot, just don't know if they were unlucky with unreliability etc..... Thanks in advance..

Simple answer: yes, you'll notice a difference with the Marantz, especially with such a fab plasma. I've seen the Marantz in action and it's sensational.

And if you're not sure about the Toshiba 20W330D, take a look at the Sony KDL-S2030 (£450).
