Originally this meant that an amplifier would amplify and output frequencies down to direct current. Some pro/industrial amplifiers were built this way for various reasons.

This is generally a bad idea in hi-fi equipment, not least because a small dc offset on a source component could be amplified sufficiently to destroy a bass driver by shifting the loudspeaker coil out of the magnetic gap.

So I doubt very much if your reciever is direct coupled in this way.

However the term may be used to describe some other 'feature', so we would need to know in what context it is being used with regard to your Onkyo.
