Was just having a look on Play for bluerays and spotted this http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/3475913/Digital-Video-Essentials-HD-Basics/Product.html#

I've set my tv (42"PZ85) up with the THX optimiser on the star wars dvd, but would I get a better picture by using the DVE blueray?

I've never used DVE so am not sure what tests are on the disc. But seeing as my tv doesn't have that many tweakable picture settings would I notice a difference from the THX setup? I would imagine alot of the advanced settings are hidden in the service mode.

In a nutshell is it worth a purchase ?

I've got the standard DVD version and it really did help improve my picture - I'd say for £15 it could prove to be a cheap way of improving your set up.

Andrew everard has a link on the forum "how to choose the right size of tv" from the amazon website, which is slightly cheaper.

Stangely though the blu-ray version is over a pound cheaper than the dvd version??

I tried using the standard DVD from DVE over the weekend and found it really difficult to follow, especially when it came time to use the blue filter. I must be either a numpty or missed something in the instructions (or both more likely!!!). I wasnt confident in changing any settings to any great degree so the picture quality on my 46PZ85 didnt change much.

I was thinking of trying the THX set up to see if that was any easier
