Different speakers for different flor coverings?

I need new speakers. I am moving house and there is a large room that indeed AV speakers for. The room is 27 by 17. My amp is a Sony DA2400ES. I am thinking of getting Monitor Audio RX6 AV12 speakers. Two questions.

1. Would they be a good match for the amp? If not, any recommendations.

2. Would the choice of speaker change if the floor was carpeted or wooden flooring?

I don't know that your speaker choice would change, but I would recommend avoiding large expanses of reflective surfaces wherever possible. You'll potentially get nasty reflections and phase issues.

Then it'll be down to the clinic.

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

Your room acoustics will usually have a profound effect on how the speakers will sound. Things like carpeting, curtains and soft furnishings will deaden the sound. A sparsely furrnished room, with laminate flooring and large area of glass will make the room echoey.

Only you will know if you like a speaker with your particular room acoustics.
