Denon RCD-M37DAB CD Tray gets stuck half way when cold

I was given the Denon for Christmas. The CD tray gets stuck when about half open. It does this when the unit has recently been turned on, but after it has been on for a while the tray open first with a noticable click half way and then later smoothly.

Is this simply a fault that means I should return the unit?

We certainly haven't experienced that, and have had a couple of units in. I'd swap it for a new one.
