Hi - another issue with the 1909. Try to put it as simply as poss!
3 x HDMI inputs assigned as follows:
1 = DVD,
2 = PS3,
3 = SKY HD (+ optical for audio).

All are fine except the DVD! it won't show any pic or play any sound.
I've swapped HDMI cables around and swapped inputs around - ie the PS3 works fine if i put it into number 1!
I've double and triple and quadruple checked input assignment on the amp and the set up on the DVD player!

I'm stumped!

My DVD player is an older DENON - DVD2910.

Any help anyone??

OK well, this is probably stating the obvious but...

Either the DVD player is set up to output video and audio in formats the receiver can't handle

or the player's HDMI out is faulty or turned off, or the HDMI cable you're using for the DVD player is faulty.

I know that the default shipping condition for this machine is HDMI off, so presumably you've turned it on (I know, I know, but I did say I'd be stating the obvious), and checked the cable.

If all the above are sorted, I'd suspect a fault with the player - unless someone else knows better...

Thanks for replying Andrew.
The DVD's outputs are all checked and correct.
The HDMI is on and works - I checked this by routing the DVD output directly to the TV - all good!
So, the cable is fine, the DVD player is working and outputting audio and video when i connect directly.

So, still stumped!

Which video format is the player outputting to the receiver? Is it RGB by any chance? If so, try the YUV (or YCbCr) setting, and see whether that gets you a picture.

Hi Andrew,

It's set to YCbCr setting - I tried the RGB setting also no joy.

I gave up in the end and set it up with dig coax for audio and an HDMI to DVI cable straight into the telly (this being the only available slot) - do you think this is the best alternative or would component be better for the video.

I'm still frustrated that my HDMI doesn't seem to work however!!!

This is really odd, but I'm sure it's something simple we're both overlooking. I think a call to Denon customer service might be in order...

Denon "customer service". I would advise against any breath-holding.

Yes - i'm convinced it will be a simple oversight - but i'm testing my family's patience with the amount of time i've spent trawling through all the various set ups and tests!!!

I need a magic wizardy person to come and solve it for me!!!

AAAARGH!

Weirdly whilst playing around with this problem. The sound started to come through from the DVD whilst in the set up menu! All excited I quickly left the set up menu hoping to see my DVD working correctly and ...... NOTHING!
All sound had gone and still no picture!!

All very strange!

Big Aura:Denon "customer service". I would advise against any breath-holding.

...Or of course the retailer where the receiver was purchased.

Just a niggle in the back of my mind Andrew - you mentioned turning the HDMI "on" - I've just assumed it's "on" because i've previously been using an HDMI to DVI cable directly into the telly which worked for video. Can i assume this?

Well yes, if it worked straight into the TV then it's definitely on! Unless you've done a reset or firmware upgrade or whatever, in which case it may have defaulted back to off.
