Denon AVC-A1HD vs Pioneer SC-LX90

Hi folks. I see that both of these amps were rated highly in the recent High end special but how do they stack up against each other? Particularly when it comes to stereo output too? You'll see elsewhere that I've just invested in a Pioneer KRP-600M and will soon need to upgrade from my Denon AVR-4306. I can get both of these units in Australia for similar money - so, do I break with tradition and go with the Pioneer or is the Denon unit still top of the tree?

Damien, either would make you happy, I'm sure. I prefer the look and price of the Denon to be honest.

Hi Damien

If you enjoy music as much as Dvds the Denon edges it over the Pioneer, but not by much i have to say i have seen and heard the Pioneer and it is some piece of kit the power and depth of the sound is astonishing, as i am sure is the denon.

Either way what ever you buy i am sure you will not be disapointed, as for looks the pioneer is a real looker, hope this helps some way to making your mind up you lucky begger.

For the life of me (and without the contents list to hand) I can't remember exactly which one we've just got in - the LX81, I think - but one of them we do have, for Awards consideration.

Hi Clare - likely will be early 2009 - I'm getting the screen this week and then have to recoup my savings ; ) So, plenty of time to read a few more reviews and listen to both amps before making a decision either way.
