I have just ordered the Denon 3808 and Q Acoustic 1010i. I know I should spend more on the speakers but they are the right size for the lounge (and passed the wifey test). I am just a bit worried that the 3808 will be powerful for them and they will sound bad. Any advice appreciated.

Having a too powerful amplifier won't make the speakers sound bad, just make sure you don't push them too far with volume (the sound will start to distort if you do - that's the time to turn the volume down sharpish!).

Cheers for that. I have had a "Wearing the trousers moment" and have decided to go for the Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom 5.1 with Tannoy TS12 sub upgraded to MJ Acoustics Reference 100 MkII. Hopefull this will do the amp a bit more justice.

The sub is by all accounts rather excellent. I have the small pro 50 which is very good. The Ref 100 gets glowing reports whenever I have heard it mentioned.

I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with the Tannoys and that sub, I see Creative Audio are doing the same deal if you buy an amp (I was looking at the 606 deal). Look forward to hearing your views.

It will arrive on Friday and I have the day off to set it up, so I will let you know. I am hoping there will be no issues (fingers crossed)

Bet you can't wait! I won't expect any feedback until Monday then 🙂 Enjoy.
